The Year of Running

Image
Hello World, It's me, Kelsey. I don't actually have a plan for this post but I should start by being honest...today's day is actually February 23, 2015. This post is time-stamped back in December but I haven't gotten around to writing it yet. Today's date is significant though...exactly one year ago today I was chasing that Princess Half dream, 13.1 miles down the road. So today seems like a good day to write about my year of running. To get a clear picture of how this year of running came to be we should time travel back to June 11, 2013. The day that registration opened for the 2014 Disney Princess Half Marathon. A number of my friends and I had decided that we were going to do this. My phone reminded me all week that registration would open on June 11. When that day came, I was completely terrified. I knew I wanted to do it but the reality of it was that I really had never run more than 3-4 miles...ever. I held my breath, typed in my credit card information and h

Christmas 2014

Momma, Today was our second Christmas without you. It's crazy how it can feel like so long without you. We went to Deb's house for dinner last night and it was so yummy! Then Deb, JP and I went to the 11pm Christmas Eve Service. That is not a service we ever went to with you but for the last two years, that is when we go.  Lindsay was super sick over with the stomach bug so we took our time getting up this morning. Deb and John came over around 10:30 and we opened presents.  Presents on presents. Literally. We all have a. I've time opening gifts. I got a new Northface and the Naked 2 Palette by Urban Decay, among other things.  In the afternoon we drove the 2 minutes to Deb and JP's house for Christmas dinner. We ate too much food and watched tv and napped. Christmas is so tiring. We definitely missed you. But we miss you everyday.  Christmas isn't about Earthly presents. The best gift I have ever received the gift of Jesus Christ. For that gift saved my life. It sa

Twenty Months

Hi Momma, It's me, Kelsey. Wow, has it been a long time since I've seen you. Twenty months. Today is Monday, December 8, 2014. Side note: It's hard to believe that just two years ago I was a few hours away from leaving for a cruise with my best friends. Crazy...how much happens in what seems like such a short amount of time. So much has happened in the past 20 months since April 8, 2013.  How are you? It is starting to get very cold here. You know I hate the cold. I need to flock south for the winter...errr maybe forever actually. We had our first snow day right before Thanksgiving. Is it cold in Heaven? Does it snow? Can you see when it snows here? I can't think it's cold because, God knows that I'd never last in a cold climate for enternity.  Well, I was in California for the first part of the month and I have been writing those letters to you separately so I won't go into much detail here. Momma, I love traveling. Nothing makes my heart excited more than

Thanksgiving 2014

Mom, Today is Thanksgiving. They say that the 2nd year of Holidays is the hardest. I'm not sure if that is true yet. Thanksgiving doesn't feel too different for me because we always go up to Deb's for meals and that is what we did today! She made a lot of awesome food and you would have loved it! I'm thankful that I get to see my family everyday but I'm also thankful that I was able to know you. I wish I had more time with you but I didn't and I don't. So I just have to be thankful for the time I had you here. I miss you like crazy. Christmas is next and will be here before I know it.  Love you, Mommy. Kelsey

San Francisco

Momma, We had to head to LAX about 3 hours before our flight because they warned us that LA traffic on a Monday could be horrible. I listened to my music the whole way to the airport so I lost track of how long it took. We didn't eat breakfast and the airport terminal left much to be desired in terms of food. For someone who usually eats two breakfasts (with at least one protein), this was definitely a dilemma. So I did what anyone would do in this situation and I stuffed my face with a pastry and chips. YOLO. Our plane to San Fran ended up leaving an hour late so we arrived at our hotel about 2pm. And by the time we set off to explore the Fisherman's Wharf it was like 3! I wish we would have gotten to SF earlier because the weather was GORGEOUS! It was by far the nicest weather of all our days there.  We spent some time walking around near the water and then Lindsay and I made our way to experience our first IN-N-OUT burger. It was good but but it didn't live up to all the
